This has been a traditional high income earner for the club, as well as assisting those in need. Lions members arrive at the market at 8 am to set up the sausage sizzle and await their first customers. Catering Events The photo above shows part of the Castlemaine Lions catering team gearing up for the District Governor's meeting in the Castlemaine Fire Station meeting room. Representatives came from a wide area from Melbourne to Swan Hill. Catering events in August included providing barbecue and other hot foods for the Castlemaine District Netball Association Tournament attended by over girls at their new facilities at the Stadium.
An early morning start was necessary to provide commuters with hot dogs at the Castlemaine Railway Station. This was a combined Rotary-Lions event. There was an array of board games and other indoor games, and healthy finger food was served. The evening was well attended. The weather was kinder to us this year. In brilliant sunshine both in the two weeks of preparation of Camp Reserve and on the weekend of the town's major event, little if any rain fell.

Our event was another outstanding success raising much-needed funds for charity and creating a relaxed environment for exposure and display of these outstanding vehicles. Entrants travel from all over Victoria and Australia with the occasional overseas visitor; such is the far-reaching attraction of this event. At Small Ford Sunday the cars are the stars.

While the sporting heritage models of the 60's and 70's form the greater percentage of vehicles on display, each year has seen an increase in both periods before and after. Vehicle standards also vary from fastidiously restored and highly modified show cars through to racing cars and well worn daily driven vehicles.

More than just a car show. Funding an event of this scale doesn't come cheap, but when the bills are all paid profit from the gate takings are put to good use in the form of charity donations.
In the chosen charity for event was the Make a Wish Foundation. Small Ford Sunday is also the major annual fundraising event of the Lions Club of Reservoir, who use the funds generated from food and drink sales for valuable community projects.
